B.Ed. is an undergraduate program formulated for students dreaming of becoming teachers or pursuing a future in the teaching field. B.Ed. focuses on parameters like teaching skills, educational theory, classroom management, and subject-specific pedagogy. In two years, students learn to thrive in their teaching careers through meaningful contributions to the education sector.

Course Duration - 2 Year Full-Time
Eligibility Criteria - Students need a graduation degree and must pass the Bihar B.Ed. Common Entrance Test (CET) to pursue B.Ed. Course.

The B.Ed. course covers a range of subjects, including some foundation subjects (Educational psychology, philosophy, and sociology). It also includes specialization in subjects or educational levels.

Description of Course

As per the UGC guidelines, students will follow the course prescribed by the NCTE & Jai Prakash University, Chapra for 2-Years B.Ed. Course as and when notified:

  • In the 1st Year, course contains 7 Papers (C 1 to C 7a) and 3 EPC papers (EPC I, II, III). Total marks in the 1 year is 650 out of which 520 is Theory and 130 marks is Practicum.
  • Similarly, in the 2nd year, the total marks are 650 which contain 6 Papers (C 7b to C 11 and EPC IV). Most of the focus this year goes on to School Internship (16 Weeks) which has 250 marks. One Optional paper is mandatory this year.

A Diploma in Elementary Education trains aspiring candidates to teach at the primary and upper primary levels. The program plays a crucial role in refining the academic system at the grassroots level.
In two years, D.El.Ed. students learn teaching principles to enhance soft skills and communication abilities.

Eligibility Criteria - Students who have completed 10+2 examinations in any stream from a recognized board/university and cleared the Bihar D.El.Ed Common Entrance Test (CET) can easily seek admission to D.El.Ed Course.

Description of Course

The students will follow the course prescribed by the NCTE & BSEB, Patna for 2-Years D.El.Ed. Course as and when notified:

  • In the 1st year of the course, there are 12 Papers (F1 to F12), and also a 4-week School Internship program. The total marks in the 1st year are 1000 or 40 Credits (Internal and External).
  • Similarly, in the 2nd year, total marks are 1000 or 40 Credits. But in this year, there are 9 papers (S1 to S9) and a 16-week School Internship program. In this year, most of the focus is on pedagogical subjects.
Program Learning Outcomes of D.El.Ed Course

By the end of the D.El.Ed program, the students will be able to

  • Develop a dedicated elementary school where teachers would become instrumental in the reconstruction of society.
  • Consider the interrelationship, rapport, and coordination among teachers, children, and the community.
  • Develop the necessary knowledge, pedagogic skills, and positive predisposition required to be effective elementary teachers.
  • Acquire new tools and techniques that would enable them to respond to the challenges of elementary education effectively.
  • Address the needs of diverse learners of elementary schools as well as work in coordination with the community.
  • Nurture their learning style by exploiting ICT, Work Education, Visual Arts, and Performing Arts as tools of pedagogy.
  • Develop their aptitude to communicate, demonstrate, and practice to deliver the curriculum effectively.
  • Encourage creative and independent thinking and enable them to construct their knowledge.
  • Construct their understanding of pedagogic approaches and develop the necessary insight to establish linkages between the theory and practice of elementary education.
  • Understand the social and psychological contexts of children and handle them with sensitivity and compassion.
  • Learn issues related to inclusive education, life skills education, gender perspectives, environmental concerns, community knowledge, independent thinking, innovation, and creativity for elementary-level learners.
  • Promote a culture of reflective practice and research for the betterment of elementary education.
  • Understand contemporary theories of education/teaching/learning in the field of elementary education and technology, and integrate the same in their classroom teaching.
  • Acquire competencies not only to reflect on the current pedagogical practices but also to create his/her pedagogical knowledge based on observations, experimentation, analysis, and reflection.
